Training as well as life-long training are one of the many SYNMIKRO offers to keep our teams up-to-date on each level of our daily business, from administrational and technical tasks up to building new hypotheses on what life - at a biological glance - is all about.
We offer several workshops - from science to outreach, from successful grant-writing to submission of papers - and SYNMIKRO is very proud on its individual iGEM teams which, from 2012, compete annually at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, with world-wide teams for the best ideas of Synthetic Biology.
The SYNMIKRO Graduate School, part of the Marburg School of Synthetic Microbiology, which compiles both the Collaborative Research Center SFB 987 Grad-Schools activities and the International Max Planck Research School for Environmental, Cellular and Molecular Microbiology, offers a broad range of seminars, a yearly retreat in one of the Hessian marvelous castles and sophisticated, individual thesis advisory committees.
The Short-Term Exchange program for young scientists is one of SYNMIKROs specialties. Students or graduates who are interested to work for some weeks with us in one of our Research Areas can get funded - following a successful evaluation of their short proposal - to cover all travel expenses and accommodation. Vice versa, SYNMIKRO scientists are welcome to apply for an Outgoing Fellowship to work abroad in laboratories strengthening both their scientific profile and SYNMIKROs portfolio of methods and experiments.
