The workgroups within SYNMIKRO have at their disposal a number of common equipment and other common infrastructure. These infrastructural units are administrated centrally.

SYNMIKRO houses so-called infrastructural units, central expertise and central equipment paid for with LOEWE funding. These units are available to all research groups within the center and beyond. The goal is to establish a research infrastructure that produces synergistic effects on the one hand and motivates external scientists to join the center on the other hand. The equipment is centrally managed.

The units include equipment related to electron microscopy, flow cytometry and protein diffusion & interactions, laboratory automation, mass spectrometry, structural biology and super resolution microscopy.

SYNMIKRO Young Researchers Groups

Almost all scientific members of SYNMIKRO are actively involved in DFG’s Collaborative Research Centers (Sonderforschungsbereiche), Research Training Groups (Graduiertenkollegs), or other Cooperative Research projects. Alongside performing adventurous experiments, and reporting excellent science, SYNMIKRO substantially promotes potential Young Research Group Leaders by constantly keeping its doors open to welcome and support Young Researchers planning to set up an Independent Research Group.
